Station No. 2, 12th & Dodge St.

Fire Station No. 2 was opened on December 13, 1913.  This firehouse replaced Fire Station No. 2 at 211 South 10th Street.  It was a 2 story brick building with 4 large apparatus bays.  When a fire occurred in the former hayloft at Fire Station No. 1 at 11th and Jackson, Engine No. 1 was temporarily quartered at this firehouse.  At some point the Omaha Fire Department vacated the building was rented by the Nebraska National Guard for 25 years.  Records indicate the Omaha Fire Department closed the building during the Depression in 1932.  In 1944 the building was remodeled after the Nebraska National Guard moved operations to another location.  At this time the firehouse became Fire Station No. 1 and was quarters for Engine No. 1, Truck No. 1 and Water Tower No. 1.  The building remained an active firehouse until April March 31, 1967.  For many years the building was privately owned by an antique store.  It has since been demolished.
