Station No. 18, 37th & P

Fire Station No. 18 opened on April 28,1923.  It was nearly an exact twin to Fire Station No. 16 at 11th and Dorcas that opened several months later.  This firehouse replaced a firehouse at 3111 R Street.  It was quarters for Engine No. 18 and remained an active firehouse until January 31, 1966.  The building is currently the Christ Heights Park Community Center.  Engine 18 received a new American LaFrance 750 gallon per minute pumper in 1948.  That fire engine is currently owned by members of the Omaha Firefighters Historical Society.
