He is survived by his son Ricky Gardner Jr, daughter in law Nadine Gardner, step sons Derrick and Darrius Murrell, and Tammy Gardner. Sister Mary Cook and brothers Michael Gardner and Carl Gardner. Mother-in-law Norma Hunter and host of nieces and nephews and cousins.
Ricky was born to Dorothy Gardner on October 25, 1957 in South Bend Indiana. He was an outstanding basketball player and graduated from Three Rivers High School in 1977 soon after graduating he went to the Marine corps from 1977 to 1978. He then went to fulfill a successful career with the Omaha Fire Department from 1983 until 2007. He married Debrah Gardner in 1980 and they had a step son Aaron Brooks. In 1997 he married Tammy Gardner and they had a son Ricky Gardner Jr in 1999.
He is preceded in death by his mother Dorothy Gardner, brothers Charles, Albert, Samuel and Robert.
