Frank Fibich was born in Omaha on April 14, 1933 to John and Sophie Fibich. Frank attended South High School and then joined the army in 1951 transitioning to the Navy in 1952. Frank served in the Philippines, Korea and in Japan. He was a boat builder and steel worker.
After leaving service in 1956, he met Marjorie at a dance. They were united in marriage on October 4, 1958. Marjorie was called to heaven May 9, 2017. They enjoyed 58 years together including raising seven children, enjoying eighteen grandchildren and fourteen great-grandchildren.
Frank served on the Omaha Fire Dept for 30 years while also running his own grading/landscaping business. They moved from Omaha to Gretna where Frank built his home with acres of gardens and fields of hay and various farm animals. This helped his children to learn about working hard and providing for family. He has been a long-time member of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church and a 60-year member of the Eagles.
Dad loved to be outdoors. He took his large family on fishing trips, family vacations to visit relatives and annual Worlds of Fun trips. He especially loved the trips to Las Vegas and attending Navy SeaBee reunions with Marge.
Because several of his children live close by, Frank drove his golf cart across the field to spend time with his children, grandchildren, family and friends. He loved all family events, many of which involved Husker football, playing cards, pool parties, fish-fries and Thirsty Thursdays!
One of his favorite places to be during the day was Ralston Keno. He had a favorite table which he shared with mom. They loved going to “work” together. He will be missed, but we are glad he is with our mom who he has longed for these past six years.
