Charles P. “Charlie” Whitney

In Memoriam
May 4, 1946 - June 26, 2025
Field Apparatus Engineer

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Charles P. Whitney, who left us on June 26, 2025, at the age of 79. He was born on May 4, 1946, in Omaha, NE to Henry and Mary Whitney. Chuck was a devoted husband to his wife, Carol, for 50 years before her passing in 2015 and a loving father to his daughters, Tammi and Tiffany. He loved his grandkids, Brock, Payton, Gabbi, McKenna and Cal with his whole heart and soul. His grandchildren were his world.

Chuck was preceded in death by his wife, Carol. His parents, Mary and Henry Whitney, Sr.; brother, Henry Whitney and sister, Judy Kurtz.

He was survived by his daughters and sons-in-law: Tammi and Mike Circo and Tiffany and Brian Nemecek; his 5 grandchildren: Brock, Payton and McKenna Nemecek and Gabbi and Cal Circo. His sister, Betty Van Cleve and brother, John (Mary) Whitney and many, many friends.

Chuck will especially be known for his kisses and his wonderful phrases: “I love you”, “Be careful” and “Hello Sweetheart”. He was one of a kind and will be missed by so many.

He worked as an Omaha Firefighter for 31 years before retiring in May 1999. He was a fire apparatus engineer and anyone that knew Charlie, knew he was the first one to any call. If you were late and not on Engine #2 when he was ready to go, you would be left behind.

It gives us peace knowing on June 26, 2025, he was reunited with our mom, the love of his life!
